VATICAN TOURS

Vatican Museums - Express tour - 3 hours

Discovering the Vatican Museums is a great journey trough the centuries and Popes’ histories. Once inside, you will be guided through the major galleries. You will start with a great view of St Peter’s dome designed by the genius of Michelangelo. You will see the Belvedere Courtyard which houses the ancient and classical pieces that so many artists took their inspiration from, and it’s here that the great Lacoon statue is located! Walk though the Animal’s room, the Room of the Muses, the Round room (a small copy of the Pantheon), the Gallery of Maps, where you will see all our regions and you will discover our shape, a great boot with high heels! See the Tapestries’ room and then, last but not least, the amazing Sistine Chapel, with the great and magnificent ceiling design by Michelangelo.

Before entering the chapel, you will hear all about Michelangelo and his struggles in accepting and completing the work, which soon became the single most recognized piece of art in the world.

From the Sistine Chapel we will use the preferred exit directly into the biggest Church in the world, St. Peter's Basilica, where we cover the main monuments of artistic importance such as Michelangelo's WONDERFUL Pietà and Dome, the Barocco Baldacchino by Bernini and the Holy Altar. We will end outside on the portico to talk about the great St. Peter’s Square created by Bernini, with 284 columns and where we will also see the famous Swiss Guards with their traditional and colorful uniforms.

Once in the square we will see the famous balcony where the Pope blesses us every Sunday Morning!
